Birkenstocks

This quilt is called "Birkenstocks" by Donna Madden.
I wasn't going to post anything today because I feel like crap and have been sleeping since I got home from work yesterday. But I got up and had a shower and went on the computer for a few minutes. I hope I feel better soon, I hate being sick, it's such a waste of time!

Linda's quilt

This wall quilt was made by my sister, Linda Huntrods. I really like how she sewed dozens of buttons on the border.

Comfort Quilt

This is a comfort quilt our guild made. We make quilts for local kids who are going through major health challenges.

Tree of Life

I don't think Donna Madden will mind me showing her "Tree of Life" quilt which won the viewer's choice prize at a quilt show quite a few years ago.
Donna always comes up with great designs!

Sweat Shirt Quilt

I didn't think I had a picture of this quilt, but then I found it in a photo album.
Somebody at work wanted me to make a quilt from sweatshirts she collected over the years. I couldn't cut a square from the front of each shirt because most of them were raglan sleeved. I cut odd shaped pieces and sewed crazy quilt shapes around them on foundation squares.

Baby Quilt

This is another quilt that I sold that winter when I was fighting off poverty.
The border is Laurel Burch fabric, the quilt blocks are called "Cobblestones". I felt bad when she passed away, the world lost a great designer! Now I want to hoard the rest of my Laurel Burch fabric because there won't be any from now on.

Baby Quilt

This is a baby quilt that I sold one winter when the wolf was howling at my door.
I figured that I got about $5.00/hour. I could get a lot more than that working at Tim Horton's!
Our new quilt guild in Edgewater wanted to make a quilt to donate to the hall where we meet because they don't charge us anything for using the building. I suggested we make a baby quilt like the one I made. We gathered fabric together and I gave a demo on hand applique, then we all made blocks. The quilt still isn't done, just a but more quilting to do on it. I'll send a picture when it's completed.

Quilters Gone Bad; Frank Kwiltaholyk

Last, but not least, there was Frank Kwiltaholyk at the art gallery show, making one of his final appearances before he took a trip to the landfill.

Quilters Gone Bad

This is the second last picture for the art gallery show. Just a view of one of the display walls. The little quilt with the jar on it was one that I made. The title is "Bugs and Chocolate? Yes, Please!" There are bugs in the jar and the border has pictures of chocolate bars.

Quilters Gone Bad; Lactose Intolerant and The Criticizer

Not too many more pictures left from the Quilters Gone Bad show. I posted pics of these two quilts before, but I'm posting again because they were in the art gallery show, just so everything is all in one place.
The quilts are "Lactose Intolerant" and "The Criticizer", both designed and made by me.
I had to get up before the crack of dawn to get ready for my garage sale today. I couldn't get stuff ready during the week because my stuff is in a different town than I stay when I'm working, too far to drive back and forth a lot. So I had to wait until I got home after work yesterday, then had to buy groceries, do laundry, cut the lawn (just about a 2 hour job just for that). Now I have to cut some more fabric, organize what I've got for sale, then drive for an hour back to Radium so I can have the sale that starts at 9. Nobody better come early because I won't be there! It'll be a tiring day, but I don't get many Saturdays off, usually garage sales are held on a Saturday, that's when everybody looks for them.
I'm hoping to sell lots, so I can buy one of those internet connection stick things (I don't know what they're called). Then I can dump this horrible dial up and enter the land of the living intead of being in the land of eternally slow.

Quilters Gone Bad; Butt, It's a Watercolour

This Donna Madden quilt is called "Butt, it's a Watercolour".
Each square of fabric has a butt of an animal on it instead of a floral print.
That's my kind of quilt!

Quilters Gone Bad; Blue House With Chicken in the Yard

Another computer glitch. This time, the keyboard at Geo's place stopped working and I couldn't post yesterday. It turned out the batteries were dead in it. I think I prefer a cord that plugs into the wall, at least it's not a battery going dead when I'm in a hurry before I'm on my way to work- grrrr!
Ok, enough complaining.
This little quilt is called "Blue House With Chicken in the Yard". How profound, hehe! Somebody bought it! Another silly quilt that somebody bought from me, but don't have a picture of was called
"Why Does It End With I?" but I drew a picture of an eye on the label instead of an "I".
It was an alphabet quilt, but I got tired of making letters from one inch squares so I sewed them together anyway and made a little quilt. Maybe I'm onto something, silly seems to sell......

Quilters Gone Bad

The title of this Donna Madden quilt is on the label below the quilt. I don't know if it shows up on the scanned photo, I guess I'll find out when I post this.
I was being slow this morning, then I looked at the clock- EEK i better stop typing and get ready for work...

Quilters Gone Bad; All Dressed up and No Place to Go; Cat Houses

These are two quilts by Donna Madden, I don't remember the names of them, I'll post the titles when Donna lets me know. I love the square head people!
I was supposed to be getting lengths of fabric cut for a garage sale I'm having next weekend. There is still a lot of fabric from my closed store that needs to thinned out. I kept getting sidetracked because of wanting to start a new quilt, so I was gathering up and cutting fabric for that. Then I was agonizing over which fabrics should be put in the sale bins. I don't want to get rid of any of it, my hoarding tendency kept rearing its ugly head. But hopefully, I've managed to part with enough. I'm also putting a box of patterns in the sale. I had to buy multiple copies of patterns from the wholesalers when I had the store, so there ended up being a lot. I kept a rather hefty pile of them for myself. I sorted through the books awhile ago, kept what I wanted and donated the rest to the Steamboat Mountain Quilters in Edgewater, one of the guilds I belong to.
I'm going to have to live to be 1000 years old to make all the projects I have in mind!

Quilters Gone Bad; Loud Mouth Tattletale

The title of this quilt is "Loud Mouth Tattletale". It isn't a very good picture because the top border is cut off. I'll take a better picture of it sometime.
I was inspired to make it when I got mad at somebody at work. Enough said. lol!

Quilters Gone Bad, "Killerblades"

The name of this quilt is "Killerblades". I was inspired to make it after I tried rollerblading for the first and last time. It resulted in a broken arm, I was off work for 5 months. The break took a long time to heal up because it was right at the elbow joint. After it healed, I ended up with a terrible case of tendonitis. It took quite awhile to get rid of that, but things have been good ever since.
I learned not to rollerblade anymore, but last week, i fell on my face trying to do a "cool yoga move". Looks like I didn't learn much, hehe!

Quilters Gone Bad

This is another newspaper articles about the art gallery show. Somebody at work said she went into a store and the owner told her about going to the quilt display. She said "It was the stupidest thing she had ever seen". Some people have such narrow minded ideas of what art is. They think it can only be photograph-like paintings.
Why not just take a photo and be done with it?
If she's entitled to give her own opinion, then so am I. :^0

Quilters Gone Bad

I don't know what the title of this Donna Madden quilt is, but I love the lime green!
When I garage sale a pile of more fabric from my closed fabric store and get my stash thinned down a bit, I'll be able to go into a quilt shop and buy some more lime green fabric. The past three years, I've only bought a bit of fabric twice. That's hard on the old girl because I love looking at all the new stuff that's out there! It takes a long time to use up a whole store full before I can ever go shopping again. Oh well, being frugal now will pay off later, I hope.

Quilters Gone Bad; Jar Quilt By Donna

This "Jar" quilt was made by Donna Madden. I always meant to make one, but never got around to it. I still have a collection of novelty fabrics saved for one.
Work keeps cutting into my sewing time, but when I win the lottery, that'll all change!

Quilters Gone Bad

This is one of my favorite quilts made by Donna Madden. The title is "Guess Who's
Coming For Dinner? Hopefully, Nobody". Each chair has something different on it, Donna is so creative!
I may be antisocial, but I can relate to this. I like to be ready for company, sometimes a surprise batch of company will throw me off guard and I'll get all stressed out. Please call ahead and let me know, lol! At least then, I can make a trip to the store so there can be some snacks or a meal. I don't always have food in the house because I'm constantly coming and going. I also need time to clear my kitchen table of sewing projects. I think I have ADHD. I'm always starting something new before I get the old project done.

Quilters Gone Bad; Snake Boogie

This quilt is called "Snake Boogie". It was a pattern I found on the internet, I can't remember where. There are buttons for eyes and hand embroidered tongues on the snakes. I thought I might eventually give this quilt to a kid, but on second thought, no, I'm keeping it for myself.
I had an idea for something I want to make sometime, I saw a bearded dragon lizard in a pet store, he would look cute as a subject of a quilt.

Quilters Gone Bad; The Poid

Our quilting guild had a challenge called "Memories of Childhood". The quilt had to contain a common fabric that we all used. This was my entry, it's called "The Poid".
When I was little, I thought a monster, named "the Poid" lived in the toilet.
I would leave the bathroom door open a bit so I could make a quick getaway. After I washed my hands, I would flush and run at top speed out of the bathroom to avoid been grabbed and pulled down into the toilet by the Poid.
This is a terrible picture, I'll have to take a better one. At the time, I had a Minolta camera that had a wonky viewfinder. No matter how hard I tried to centre the object in the picture, it would turn out bad. My daughter also had a Minolta that did the same thing, very frustrating.

Quilters Gone Bad; Newspaper Article

The computer was in a snit again yesterday. It's frustrating when I'm all ready to post something on the blog and everything freezes up. Then I don't have time to fix it because I have to get ready for work. When my ship comes in, I won't have to run off to work anymore. I'll be able to sit there and have a contest of wills with the computer and I'll win :)

Here is another article that was in the newspaper when Donna and I had our show at the art gallery.
Looking at the old photos had made me realize that these events that happened in the past are nice, but I want some fun things to happen in the future too. It started the rusty wheels turning, I'm thinking of projects that I want to make. The creative slump is coming to an end.....

Quilters Gone Bad

Here is another earwig quilt by Donna Madden. Nothing Says "Come to Bed" like an earwig.
Donna, correct me if I'm wrong on the title.

Quilters Gone Bad; Donna's Earwig Quilt

ARRRRGH! I was going to send a post yesterday, but the computer wouldn't connect to the internet, it must've been in a snit about something.

Donna Madden made a series of quilts featuring earwigs. This is one of her creations.
I can't remember the title of it, but I hope Donna will reply to this and let me know.
I love the lime green in this quilt, it's one of my favorite colours.
Earwigs have to be one of the creepiest things out there! I get them coming into my house at the end of every summer- YUCK!
Donna is the only person I know that would make quilts with these creatures on them!

Quilters Gone Bad

This is me at the 2001 Quilters Gone Bad show that Donna Madden and I did at the Art Spot.
There weren't a lot of signatures in the guest book, so just for a joke, I took a first name from the list and a different last name and made a fake comment, it said "Astounding". Small things amuse small minds, I laughed about that for days. Someone might look at the guest book and wonder who the commenter was. This is a small town, everybody knows everyone else.

Another One Completed

I don't know what to call this one. I watched a YouTube tutorial on making the triangle units. There were bias edges, so I had to be re...
