Quilt for Jerri and Bill By Linda H.

Linda made this "Crazy Eights" quilt for her neighbours, Jerri and Bill. They like autumn colours and were thrilled to receive this quilt. The pattern came from "The Scrap Sensation" by Quilter's World Magazine 2012. It was designed by Ruth Swasey.

New Sewing Machine

I'm finally getting a chance to use my new sewing machine! I bought this second-hand Bernina in the spring, but haven't had much time to use it yet. My 20-year-old Bernina was starting to malfunction and was in dire need of service. Last weekend I took it to "My Sewing Room" in Calgary, they told me they would get it all fixed up. I'll be able to pick it up in about four weeks. The old Bernina will become my spare machine. I always say, "One can never have too many sewing machines".

Hexagon Quilt by Vicki

Vicki, one of the members of the Jonanco quilting group near Nanaimo made this hexagon quilt. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. She was inspired by the quilter, Albert Small, who made quilts with thousands of hexagons. See some examples of his work HERE. I saw Vicki's quilt when I was visiting there in May. She did a fantastic job, it's a real treasure.

There is a great book store in Whitehorse, called "Mac's Fireweed Books", I bought these two books from there. All I could do was drool over the table topper book because there isn't a sewing machine at the cabin. I started crocheting an afghan from a pattern in the other book. The ugly knitted blanket isn't finished yet, but I made a lot of progress. I'm looking forward to firing up the sewing machine again, it's been a long time without it. For some eye candy, I've included a photo of Emerald Lake, Yukon.

Apron

I just finished making this apron. The picture of it on a hanger didn't turn out great because the apron was folding in on itself. I was...
