Crocheted Afghan
I started making this afghan in June, then finished it last week. The pattern came from the book, "Modern Crocheted Afghans, Throws and Pillows" by Laura Strutt. I made the afghan bigger than the pattern stated because my crocheting is so tight. I hang onto the hook with a death grip. It's difficult to change that after crocheting for 51 years!

Baby Quilt Completed
I finished this baby quilt yesterday, it only took two weeks from beginning to end. I can get something done if there is a deadline, otherwise, it might take years, haha! I wanted to wash the quilt with colour catcher sheets to make sure the dark fabrics didn't bleed into the white background. I threw three colour catchers into the washing machine, then hoped for the best. After it was dried, I was horrified to see that some of the red bled to the back of the quilt. The colour catchers didn't work at all. Now I was faced with the dilemma of fixing this mess. I had a leftover block, so I appliqued that over one stain. The other blotch was covered with a square of a cute print. It'll have to do. It won't be an heirloom by any means,it's meant to be used. Quilting is never an exact science, many things can go wrong in the process. The pattern,"Simple Addition" was fun to make. I purchased the download from Cluck Cluck Sew The pattern has all sizes from baby quilt to king. I'd like to make it again in a different colour combination.

Product Review: Konfetti Thread
On the weekend I went to Calgary to pick up my old Bernina from My Sewing Room. It had been there for a month waiting for its turn to be serviced. After I collected the machine, I looked around in the store and discovered this thread: Konfetti, 50 wt,100% Egyptian cotton, double gassed and mercerized, 2500 yard cone. I bought one, then tried it out last night. It ran nice and smooth in my machine and doesn't seem to leave much lint behind. The thread comes in lots of colours and can be used for piecing and machine quilting, or for any other purpose where you like to use cotton thread. I like to have cones of thread on hand because I live in a rural area, it's impossible to just hop over to a fabric store if I need something. The next time I'm shopping will buy this brand of thread again in some basic colours, the price is quite reasonable. My Sewing Room did a great job repairing a few things and servicing my old Bernina. It doesn't even sound like the same machine. :)

What I'm Working On Right Now
Last week I was invited to a baby shower. Not having a gift ready, I wrote in a card, "IOU a baby quilt". I asked the new mom what colours she liked or didn't like, she said anything would be ok. I had an idea to use bright prints on a white background. I looked in books and on the internet for a pattern, then found one that looked interesting. My next post will have the name and source of the pattern. I'm waiting for a new washing machine to arrive, my old one died and flooded all over the floor. The quilt should be washed with colour catcher sheets when it's completed to make sure the colours don't bleed into the white fabric. It happened with a queen size quilt that I made many years ago, what a nightmare! I always prewash all my fabric, but there can still be bleeders. Hopefully, this one will be ok.
