Another Eye Blistering Log Cabin Quilt Is Completed
Last year I made a Log Cabin quilt with these bright blocks, there were several left over. A few months ago, I counted the blocks and realized that if I made four more, there would be enough for a quilt.
I put sashing between them to increase the size, then added a border. There wasn't enough of any single fabric for the back, so I used three different ones. The colour is actually purple but it shows up more blue in the photo. I couldn't get the colour to look accurate.
The quilting is a silly design I came up with. The thread is "Joseph's Coat", King Tut by Superior Threads.

Baby Windmills By Linda H.
Linda made "Baby Windmills" to be donated to her quilting group. They give quilts to women's shelters and people in need. The idea came from a book, but Linda changed the pattern around so much that it doesn't even resemble the original. She said it was quite a job lining up all those seams to sew. It's a safe bet that I would like Linda's better. :) This is what Linda said about the pattern from the book: "It was a block taken from a quilt called Meadow by Corey Harder. It was from a book called Scraps Made Simple. The original quilt was much bigger and had sashing between the blocks which would have been easier to put together and not have required so much pinning of seams to match."

Potholders n A Hurry
The other day I was getting ready to go to a dinner for a coworker who will be moving away. I didn't want to go empty handed and wondered what I could bring for a small gift. I thought of a set of potholders.
In my box of orphan blocks I found two that were the right size. I layered and quilted them, then finished with a loops and binding.
I don't know what kind of colours or style the person prefers, I hope she likes the potholders. If not, they don't have to be displayed, just put them in a drawer and use when needed.

Baby Quilt To Donate
About 15 years ago I made this baby quilt top. I didn't have anybody in mind to give it to, so it remained a UFO. I quilted it a few weeks ago and finished it.
It's made from 1930s reproduction fabrics, the backing is muslin. The pattern came from the book, More Nickel Quilts by Pat Speth. The name is "Pinwheels on Parade". I'm going to donate it to Linda H's quilting group, they will find a good home for it.

Tote Bag By Linda H.
Linda made this tote bag as a Christmas gift for her friend, Joanne. Needless to say, Joanne loved the bag because she is a camping enthusiast. It's always nice when a person really appreciates a handmade gift.

London Lawns Is Completed
The "London Lawns" pattern is by Debra Finan. I found it in a Fons and Porter quilt magazine but I don't remember which one. If I come across it in my stacks of magazines, I will add the info to this post. It is also available as a digital download:
I discovered a package of wool batting in the sewing hole to use in this quilt. I don't even know where the batting came from, it looks like one made in a woolen mill. The quilt ended up being thick and cozy, so it'll probably end up living at the cabin.
The plain blue strips were quilted with continuous feathers. It was the first time I had done this type of design on a quilt. I hope to purchase a ruler that I can use to make the feather spine look smoother. I used Fantastico thread by Superior. It's a lovely thread to work with.
The wide backing fabric came from Connecting Threads.
