Quilt Top #23 "Christmas In July"
I've been going through stacks of old quilt blocks, trying to figure out what to do with them. I unearthed a batch of blocks that I won at the guild about 20 years ago. We each made a block, then my name was drawn and I got all of them. There was a second pile of blocks, I can't remember if they were from an exchange or whether I won those as well. I decided to sew all the blocks together without sashing. That was a challenge, I had to use the "stretch and sew" method to join them together. They were supposed to be 12 1/2" unfinished, but there were great variations in size. Hopefully, it'll all flatten out once it's quilted. :)

Four-Patch Blocks
The other day I was looking through a box of leftover quilt pieces and came across a stack of four-patch blocks. I'm trying to finish UFOs and use up odds and ends, so it seemed like a good idea to do something with these blocks. I made a few more to add up to 35, then added a paisley print around them. The next step will be sashing and cornerstones.

Comfort Quilt Completed
This comfort quilt is finished except for the label. The blocks were made by one of our guild members several years ago, I finally got around to sewing them together. The quilting went fairly fast because I'm trying to "step on the gas" a little harder, being careful not to run over my fingers. One UFO down, another million to go, haha!

Pedal To The Metal
I retired July 1st from a place where I worked for just about 38 years. It almost seems strange to all of a sudden have time to sew. On Sunday I was digging around in a box of quilt blocks and came across a stack of blocks made by one of our guild members several years ago. I had volunteered to sew them together into a comfort quilt at the time- OOPS! Time went on and the blocks became buried in other half-finished projects. I joined the blocks with sashing and cornerstones, then added a small border. I looked around for a backing, then decided on muslin. A bright print on the back wouldn't be suitable because colours might show through to the white on the front. I pieced together some leftover quilt batting, but it ended up being a bit too small, I had to use a piece from my bolt of batting. I started quilting it yesterday and now it's almost finished. Now to tackle the rest of the UFOs and probably start a few new things. :)

Quilt For Emma, By Linda H.
Last summer, Linda H, Audrey and I were working on the same kind of quilt blocks. I ended up making mine into the "X" Quilt, but Linda and Audrey didn't finish theirs. A couple of months ago, Linda combined her blocks with Audrey's and made a small quilt for Emma, the cat. Emma likes to sleep in Linda's sewing room, so Linda covers up a stack of quilt batting with this quilt. That way the batting stays free of cat hair and the quilt can be washed. It's a great way to use up extra quilt blocks. :)

Back From Vacation 2018
We had beautiful weather this year, I spent more time out in the kayak and not as much time knitting and crocheting. There was a book from the library that had instructions for the "Entrelac Technique", so I made a sample. I also made a crocheted hot pad for the table. Now it's time to do some sewing! :)
