Finally Ready For Binding
I'm finally at the binding stage for this batik beast. There are still some areas that need a bit more quilting, but that can be done later. I get tired of a project when it takes so long to do.

Quarantine Quilt
I'm jumping on the bandwagon by making a quarantine quilt. Quite a few people are making house quilts because we are all sheltering at home these days. I found a pattern in the book, "Quick Quilts From Your Scrap Bag", a Leisure Arts publication, it's called, "Cabin In The Woods". After I made two cabin blocks, I realized they would look better with a window, so I modified the pattern. I thought the tree block was funny, a big rectangle on a stump. There are also triangle trees, I'll have to make templates for those ones. It's a project to keep me amused for a while.

Making Do
My "Traffic Jam" blocks are now sewn into a quilt top. I was short ONE grey sashing strip. It was my own fault, the piece of fabric looked big enough, I didn't measure it to see how many 12 1/2" strips could be obtained from it. To solve the problem, I pieced the last strip with three seams. After the quilting is done, it shouldn't be noticeable. I raked through my stash to see what would look nice for a border, nothing seemed to be suitable. It may end up with no border.

X Quilt By Linda H.
Linda recently made "X Quilt". This is what she said about it, "The X quilt was made from a block pattern from a book called "Scrappy Bed Quilts" (a House of White Birches publication). It is an old book first published in 1997 and reprinted several times. The quilt is called "Hugs and Kisses" by Judith Sandstrom. I made changes to block construction and added sashing. The original quilt had a muslin background."

Making "Traffic Jam" Blocks
I've got 21 of these "Traffic Jam" blocks made so far. This is a free pattern on Pat Sloan's blog. I'll make 30 of them and put sashing between them. It's nice to have sewing to pass the time while being socially isolated. My fabric hoard is coming in handy these days.
