Mexican Star Table Mat By Linda H.
Linda H made this table mat in the traditional Mexican Star pattern. The friend who received it was delighted. It's always nice when someone really appreciates a gift. :)

Throwback Thursday; Quilted Baby Jacket
I made this quilted baby jacket in 1987 just before my daughter, Lindsay was born. The pattern came from a library book, I don't remember the title or author. The jacket has embroidery and is hand quilted on satin. It was supposed to fit a three to six-month-old baby, but it was too small for Lindsay at three months, so it never was worn. I think it would be a better fit for a doll.

I Don't Usually Do Zippers
A few days ago the zipper gave out on my winter jacket. I find it annoying how they put such flimsy zippers in clothing that is supposed to be good quality. Yes, that is you, LLBean- start putting better zippers in your outerwear! I wore my old jacket until I could figure out where to get a replacement zipper, the closest fabric store is a three-hour drive from here.
Tonight I dug around in my zipper stash and found a royal blue one that was just about the right length. It was a terrible job trying to pick out the old zipper, it was sealed in with a glue-like substance as well as stitched. Finally, I removed it and proceeded to attach the replacement zipper. It's not exactly the right colour to go with the jacket, but it will do.
If anybody wants me to put a zipper in their jacket, that answer is NO, I'm a quilter. :)

Giveaway Quilt #2 By Linda H.
This is the second quilt that Linda H has given to a friend for a worthy cause. She used some orphan blocks combined with others and created this design.

Crazy Quilt Completed
I finished this Crazy Quilt last night. I went a little overboard with doodle quilting and kept adding more and more. The quilting along the border looks a little bizarre, oh well. There are all kinds of odds and ends in this one- orphan quilt blocks, leftovers from other quilts and lots of scraps.

Day Three Of Our Fall Quilting Retreat
On Sunday I made several more Scrappy Chains blocks. I think I'm about half done, 143 blocks are needed for the quilt. We had a good time, eating and talking with a little bit of sewing. :)
