It's Cabin Time
We arrived a week ago. It takes a bit of time to get things settled and the garden planted.
The Patterson-Gimlin Quilt is hung on the wall. I started making it here at the cabin last summer.
When we leave after the summer season, I'll take the quilt down and put it in a Rubbermaid bin
so it doesn't get dusty and cobwebbed.

It Only Took Thirty Years To Get It Finished
This one can be struck off the UFO list. After making this quilt top in 1995, I had no idea how to quilt it. The leaves extended into
the black border with 3-D flaps. I didn't know much about machine quilting in those days and how to deal with different shapes. Because it was made so long ago, I don't remember if the pattern came from a book or a magazine or who the designer was. The quilt top was put away for 30 years and became a well-aged UFO.
It was finally unearthed, then I tackled the stitching in the ditch with Babs, the Baby Lock machine. After that, the rest of the
quilting was done on the Baby Lock Tiara sit-down quilting machine. I solved the problem of the flapping leaves by quilting right over
top of them.
The fabrics and prints in this quilt are typical of the mid-90s. Back then, the colours were quite greyed down and dark. I think it was a
rebellion against the ghastly dusty rose and blues from the 80s.
It feels good to finally finished something that's been hidden away for so long.
