Quilt Top #26
I just finished sewing the victory lap on this Split Nine Patch quilt top. I can't start quilting it yet because there is another project that needs to be completed soon.
This quilt top contains green fabrics from all my 34 years of quiltmaking. There is quite a variety, from batiks, novelty prints and even Christmas greens. I dug right down to the bottom of a giant Rubbermaid bin and discovered fabrics I hadn't unearthed for years. When this quilt is finished, it's going to go on the bed in the spare bedroom.

Fox Pillow By Linda H.
Linda made this awesome pillow for her friend for Christmas. Needless to say, her friend was delighted to receive it. Now everybody is going to want one! The pattern came from Quiltmaker Magazine, Jan/Feb 2021, "Foxy Valentine" by Mary Hertel.

First Finish Of 2021
It was finished last night- yay! This quilt was started in September after I broke my wrist. About half of the blocks were made when I had the cast on. Very awkward, to say the least. My hand and wrist were still very weak when I pin basted it and the free motion quilting was a struggle at first. I slowly persevered and my hand became gradually stronger. It still isn't 100%, I'm still working on strengthening exercises. Injuries take longer to recover from when a person is older- groan. This quilt is going to be given to a neighbour in the Yukon, where our summer cabin is located.
When I was making the blocks, I didn't have enough of the dark grey fabric, so I added a different grey in the centre five rows. Sometimes I need to use what is in the stash instead of rushing out to buy more fabric. :)

Getting Ready To Pin Baste
I'm going to pin baste this project today. When my thread order arrives, I'll start the quilting. Of course, I already have a billion spools of thread, but just not the "right one" for this quilt, haha!
This pattern came from a McCall's free pattern online. When I made the quilt top according to the directions, it looked too narrow to fit a bed. I took off the side piano key borders, then added paisley strips in between to make the top wider. At least it's a better size now.
