Getting Ready For The March Quilting Retreat
Our guild is having a quilting retreat soon, I thought I better dig out a quilt top and get it pin basted. This one isn't very big, maybe I'll be able to quilt the whole thing in a few days.

Little Gems By Linda H.
Linda H finished "Little Gems" at the end of 2017. It's made of wonky Log Cabin blocks that are quite small. Linda found a wild print for the backing, a great way to find a use for an out of the ordinary fabric.

Emma, The Quilt Inspector
Every quilt that Linda H makes is inspected by Emma. Free motion quilting becomes "heavy drag" quilting. If Linda doesn't go upstairs to the sewing room, Emma yells at her to get going, haha!

Robes By Lindsay
Lindsay made some robes for us when they were here for a visit. We drafted them to our own measurements using the tutorial in the February edition of the Sew Long, Sew Happy Zine, with much assistance from my cat, Igor. Lindsay picked up the jersey fabric in Winnipeg before coming here. I have always been leery of working with knits, but they are a pro at it. My old serger was put into service, after a good cleaning and oiling. I helped cut out some of the fabric, using food cans for fabric weights. Lindsay did the rest of the cutting and sewing. there was satin trim on one robe and the other was cotton, the main fabric was knit jersey.

Nine Patch Stars By Linda H
Linda H recently completed "Nine Patch Stars", a donation quilt. Linda has a huge assortment of blue fabrics in her stash, I bet this didn't even put a dent in it.

Starting A New Scarf
I like to have a knitting or crocheting project on the go, all my other projects have been completed. Too bad I can't say the same about my unfinished quilts! I found some nice yarn in a local store, then went home to look for a pattern in this book that I've had since the early 70s. It's interesting how the variegated yarn makes it dark on one side and light on the other.

Throwback Thursday; Aquamarine Galaxy by Linda H.
Linda H made "Aquamarine Galaxy" in 2013 as a gift for our brother. There is a row of big stars on the back of the quilt. Much to Linda's dismay, he liked the back of the quilt better than the front! All that work, making a bazillion little stars and the quilt gets displayed on the couch with the back side facing up. Next time he might be given a blanket from Walmart. :)
