I Received A Beautiful Gift

My friend, Doreen Kelley crocheted this beautiful blanket for me. Last year, I had given her a set of Yukon Tartan coasters that I bought at a gift shop in Whitehorse. Doreen is interested in tartans and had designed one for the town where we live. She examined the coasters and figured out the thread count, colours and design, then proceeded to make a blanket. It's a combination of crochet and weaving. It says on the description of the tartan, "Each colour reflects our unique territory. Light blue symbolizes lakes, skies and rivers. Purple is for the mountains. Magenta, the fireweed. Green, the forest. Solid yellow, the midnight sun and broken yellow, the Klondike gold. The original tartan design was by Janet Couture in 1984." We go to our cabin in the Yukon every summer, so this blanket is really special to me, I absolutely love it!
