Throwback Thursday; 1992 Black and White Challenge
In 1992, Our quilting guild put on a challenge to make a quilt or quilted item using only black and white fabrics. That's me, standing by the Snail's Trail quilt that I made. One person made a jacket, which was really nice. The piano keys with the hands turned out really cute and the sheep one was a fun idea. Lynda Balas won the Viewers' Choice with her wonderful square wall quilt. The challenge was fun and started me on a journey of collecting black and white fabrics, which I still do to this day.

Harmony

This was my entry for a black and white plus one colour challenge we had in our guild. The quilt also had to contain 3 different quilting techniques. My techniques were hand applique, seminole piecing and machine applique. There is a 3-D chicken and cow between the people. I had to paint them with white acrylic paint because they were cream colour when I bought them at a craft shop. The back of the quilt is a fabric that has black and white cats, I'll send a pic of that another time.
The light part going across the quilt is the sun coming in through a window.

Snail's Trail

We had a few black and white challenges in our guild, this was the first one. Mine was a small wall hanging in the Snail's Trail pattern. It's hand quilted and has prairie points around the edge.
I've been collecting black and white fabrics for quite a few years, they aren't always easy to find. One of these times I want to make a bed size black and white quilt, but haven't decided on a pattern yet.
