Half Log Cabin Quilt Is Completed

I obtained the idea for this quilt from the "These Clever Hands" website. I bought their digital download pattern called, "Everything Goes". It's a half log cabin pattern. Or is it a quarter log cabin? Who knows? The blocks were mostly constructed at my Yukon cabin a few years ago, then I completed the top when I got back home. It ripened in the quilt top closet for some time, then I hauled it out to do the finishing. The batik wide backing fabric came from Connecting Threads, they included it in my order by mistake. I contacted them to say there was an extra piece of fabric in the box that I didn't order. They told me that I could keep it instead of sending it back. So here it is, on the back of my quilt. :)

Shoofly Quilt Is Completed

I made this lap-size quilt from a pattern in the book, More Nickel Quilts by Pat Speth. The place where I donate quilts likes the smaller size instead of bed quilts. They requested bright colours, so this should be suitable.

House Quilt By Linda H.

This quilt was 20 or more years in the making. At first, Linda made it about a single bed size, then decided to make more blocks to fit a queen size bed. The project sat there for many years because Linda couldn't decide what kind of quilting design to use on it. We finally came to the conclusion that Baptist Fans would suit the quilt the best. Linda provided backing, batting and thread, I quilted it on the longarm machine with Baptist Fan rulers. It took some time before Linda got the quilt back because we didn't want to mail it- too expensive and the chance that it could get lost. We waited a year until our brother came here to visit, so he took it back to Linda. Linda sewed the binding on, now the quilt is on the bed. Better late than never! :)

First Finish Of 2026

The first thing I've finished this year is a set of potholders made with leftover quilt blocks. I always make potholders for other people but never for myself. These will be for the cabin.:)
